International Conference on Terahertz Emission, Metamaterials and Nanophotonics
The 2022 edition of TERAMETANANO, the International Conference on Terahertz Emission, Metamaterials and Nanophotonics, will take place in Natal (Brazil) from 15th - 21st December,at the Praiamar Natal Hotel.
TERAMETANANO is an annual conference that gather physicists studying a wide variety of nano-structures,
nano-photonics and meta-materials, with special attention to the coupling between light and matter and
in a broad range of wavelengths, going from the visible up to the terahertz.
The TERAMETANANO will be devoted to the fundamental and technological issues relevant to the realization of a
new generation of opto-electronic devices based on advanced low-dimensional and photonic structures, such as low
threshold polariton lasers, new optical switches, single photon emitters, photonic band-gap structures, etc.
It should review recent achievements in the fundamental understanding of strong light-matter coupling, as well as
follow progress in the development of epitaxial and processing technologies of wide gap semiconductor and organic
nanostructures and microcavities providing the basis for advanced optical studies.
The conference will be open to emerging fields of carbon-based nanostructures and quantum information.

Natal is the capital of the Rio Grande do Norte state, northeast of Brazil.
Renowned for its natural beauty of its beaches and its infrastructure. Natal in Spanish is Christmas
because it was founded on December 25, 1599 by the Portuguese.
Natal is considered by the IPEA (Institute of Applied Economic Research of Brazil), as the least
violent capital of the country.
Natal has a typical tropical climate, specifically a tropical wet and dry climate, with warm to hot temperatures and high
relative humidity all throughout the year. However, these conditions are relieved by a near absence of extreme temperatures
and pleasant trade winds blowing from the ocean. February is the warmest month, with mean maximum of 31 °C or 87.8 °F and minimum of 24 °C or 75.2 °F.
Known as the City of the Sun and also as The City of the Dunes, lying about six degrees south of the equator the sun shines on for more than 3,000 hours every year.
The average temperature in Natal is about 27 °C or 80.6 °F. During the summer season it normally reaches above 30 °C (86 °F)
with the water at a soothing 26 °C (79 °F).
